Matt started out as a writer at the age of 23. At first, he went through a number of lousy jobs before landing into the film industry. He sold his first comic book to the avant-garde wet magazine in the year 1978. The comic book ‘Life in Hell’ was officially released on the 25th of April, 1980. The comic strip slowly gained popularity and thousands of copies were sold later on. It was Hollywood writer-producer James L. Brooks who introduced Matt to the animation field. The Simpsons was his first cartoon series. Next he worked on the Tracey Ullman Show followed by half hour and Futurama.
